SPACE ‘SLINGSHOT’ READY THIS YEAR

SpinLaunch Company will sling satellites into orbit without a rocket

A New Mexico corporation has developed the world’s largest and certainly most powerful slingshot.  The purpose is to launch payloads into space at tremendously reduced cost.  When perfected it could mean the death of other corporations using rockets to launch small payloads such as communications and observation satellites.

Using a 300 foot arm spinning in a vacuum at over 5,000mph it then releases whatever payload is fastened to the end and whoosh, that payload such as a satellite, is slung into space without need of any rocket booster.  Cool huh?

Final testing and then a launch are proposed for sometime this year.  Ya gotta love American Innovation!  Oh, if David had only had this slingshot he could have nailed Goliath from his home town!

P.S.  This 'simple' technology could well eliminate rockets as satellite launch devices.  So obvious is the efficiency and savings of such a system as a giant 'slingshot' that the possibilities are endless.
