DON’T BLAME COLT
By Max Allen
Colt Firearms has announced
suspension of production on their AR15 sporting rifles. Are they bowing to political pressure? Is this as a move against the 2nd
Amendment?
Colt’s AR15 is a fine rifle,
but the same can be said of other AR15s [virtually identical to Colt’s] offered
by dozens of competitors. In many cases the
Colt is twice the price of it’s competitors.
The only thing Colt’s got left is name recognition!
A Colt Firearms AR15 Sporting Rifle. Single shot, semi-automatic. |
A Sturm Ruger AR15, almost indistinguishable from the Colt AR15 |
And it’s never
a good time to make such an announcement.
Anti-gunners beat their war drums day in and day out, so it’s always a good
time for them to claim another ‘victory’.
It’s all about competition
and Colt’s AR15 can no longer compete.
I’m Max, and that’s the way I
see it.
A real shame is how Colt Firearms allowed them-selves to be priced out of the market, a market they have traditionally dominated for decades.
It's not just the AR15, but the 1911 model handgun as well. The 'name' is simply not worth twice the price. Quality and features being identical, the Colt has no appeal.
