GRANNY MURDERED BY DOG

Gee, can you guess which breed of dog it was?

It's neither a brain teaser nor is it a mental challenge to figure out just what kind of 'large headed' dog it was that attacked, mauled, murdered, and ate part of Grandma.  Okay, I see the suspense is killing those of you with double-digit I.Q.s so here you go:

● IT WAS A PIT BULL TERRIER ●

Dateline Warwickshire, England -- The American Pit Bull Terrier, aka Pit Bull, is a banned breed in many countries for good reason.  What happened to this elderly woman is just one of many of those good reasons this killer breed is banned in so many places.

A 70-year-old grandmother was sunbathing on her front porch when the family dog leapt upon her and tore her throat out.  It continued a typically Pit Bull attack as it mauled and destroyed every square inch of living tissue it could.

At one point her daughter and son-in-law tried to pull the mutt off Grandma sustaining minor injuries themselves.  While Grandmother is dead, the children live on ... and under arrest.  Charged with harbouring a banned breed of dog and reckless indifference resulting in death these two will not have a smooth road ahead.  No, no, no, it's time to pay the price for Fido.

I've spoken with a police constable wishing his name withheld and he says that these two will definitely face jail time for this instance.  He says they will likely lose their home as a result.

What sucks is that the 49 year-old daughter and 52-year-old son-in-law were well aware that their dog was a banned breed.  They bought it on the black market, an illegal transaction in and of itself.

Here in America it wouldn't go so hard on the couple because of this country's psychotic love of dogs.  Yes, Cynophiliac America would have ruled it as an unusual event [Pit Bulls alone kill 440 every year and cripple or seriously injure another 508] and might well have applauded the mildly injured married couple for 'trying to save Granny'.

This is a pernicious and epidemic problem in America, but quite rare in England.  In most European countries this is a rare event indeed.  Why is this so rare over there and so common over here?  It's because Cynophiliac Americans are willing to ignore that 800 pound gorilla in the room [or that 90 pound killer dog in the room] at the expense of their own warped sensibilities.

Give it up people!  Ban the Pit Bulls, Mastiffs, and other 'killer breeds' before it's too late.  Bite the bullet so more won't die on your watch ... unless of course you just don't give a damn!

You make me sick.  You make my @ss hurt.  May an angry Pit Bull awake you from your sleep.
