FEAR MONGERING IN THE PRESS

Even my favourite paper leans a little ‘reactionary’ from time to time

A recent headline reads; “TOP GENERAL WARNS CHINA COULD SOON SPRING SURPRISE NUCLEAR STRIKE ON US”  Well, there are a myriad of reasons why this simply isn’t so.

Now here’s mine.  The People’s Republic of China is a burgeoning beast of military might, this is true.  The People’s Republic of China has eyes on the entire South Pacific, as well as the Western World, this is also true.  The People’s Republic of China eyes the rest of the world with disdain, and this is also true.

But … Here comes the ‘but’ in all of this.  Year after year, the leading expense within China’s military budget is not nuclear weapons, nor is it ships, tanks, planes, or artillery.  No, the Chinese are far too smart and calculating for a conventional or even nuclear war.  They have far better plans to achieve their end goal of world domination.

Let’s get into it.  The largest single line item in China’s defence budget is ‘technological warfare’.  Their chief expense is in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Cyber Technology.  It is by this investment they have already gained control of over 89% of America’s news media and over 92% of Hollywood, cable, satellite, and television entertainment.  This according to a March, 2021 study by the National Alliance for Media Transparency.  The results are frightening, even more so than a nuclear strike which simply ‘ain’t gonna happen’.

Larger more stable nations such as the United States, The People’s Republic of China, the Russian Federation, and Great Britain all know far too well than any nuclear war is a ‘lose-lose’ situation.  We all know that war is, simply put, a function of profit.  Nobody destroys their enemy just to get them out of the way because doing so is extremely expensive and offers no profit.  When you attack a country with the intent to conquer them, you are looking at their resources, infrastructure, and accumulated wealth.  You need to spend less on the offence than the gain you will realize from it.  It’s simple book keeping folks; spend less and gain more.  How about that?

Look at China.  They’ve already turned the United States into a cash-cow.  They are gleaning huge profits from American firms such as Moderna, Pfizer, Astra Zeneca, Johnson & Johnson, and a plethora of other firms in all areas of production and development.  They already spend far less and gain far more.  A Chinese Military Intelligence Analyst recently said, “We already own America.  Our profits from industry and market in the U.S. are skyrocketing.  Our hold on American politicians is stronger than ever before and they pretty much do our bidding.  So why in Hell would we want to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs?”

So, when you hear generals on both sides of the aisle spouting impending nuclear holocaust, just remember that it’s just that, ‘spouting rhetoric’ and nothing more.
