WHAT’S IN A POLL?
A good poll is like a good book. It must be well written.
When considering a survey you need to consider authorship and agenda. “A survey with an agenda is only an opinion.” I want to cite a true survey devoid of agenda and opinion.
Members of Citizens United for Common Sense, a non-partisan organization comprised entirely of volunteers, conducted a survey on The State of the Nation and the ‘State of the Pandemic’. Their methodology was direct, and questions simple and clear. This survey was conducted from September 1, through November 1, of 2021. Those surveyed a base of 5,280 adults aged 30 to 70, with 2,610 males and 2,670 females. In selecting these people, data from the US Census Bureau was used to ensure a proper racial balance.
Accordingly, of those surveyed, 12.6% were of African descent, 16.3% were of Hispanic descent, 57.8% were of European descent, and 6% were of Asian descent. This survey focused on the collective 92.7% as a single group. All numbers are rounded for ease of understanding.
Here we go …
Question #1. If an election were held today, would you vote to re-elect the President?
Answer #1. 71% “NO” 18% “YES” 11% “UNDECIDED”
Question #2. Are you satisfied with the nation’s economic course?
Answer #2. 90% “NO” 4% “YES” 6% “UNCERTAIN”
Question #3. Are you in favour of Vaccine and or Mask Mandates?
Answer #3. 71% “NO” 26% “YES” 3% “UNCERTAIN”
Question #4. Do you believe government is adequately handling the pandemic?
Answer #4. 88% “NO” 16% “YES” 6% “UNCERTAIN”
Question #5. Has government exaggerated response to the pandemic?
Answer #5. 82% “YES” 15% “NO” 3% “UNSURE”
The results are equally surprising and not-so-surprising, but are telling nonetheless. It would seem that Americans, at large, are unhappy with their president, government, economy, and the state of the pandemic. It seems Americans are ready for a change. What change will be, has yet to be seen.
I’m Max, and that’s the way I see it!
