DON'T BUY FROM TV ADS UNTIL YOU CHECK AMAZON AND WALMART ONLINE FIRST

Some of these 'seen on TV' ads are subtly deceptive.

I had the misfortune of watching broadcast television last night and watched an ad for an 'add-on' rear view mirror for the car.  After touting the many advantages, real and imagined, of this mirror they flashed a red banner on screen.  It read something like this!

"Attention, buy these while you still can!  Due to supply chain shortages and increased costs we have been forced to discontinue manufacture!  Hurry and buy your @ngelview mirror while supplies last!  After the current inventory is sold, they will be all gone.  There is a limit of only 2 @ngelview mirrors so act now!"

Let's take a closer look at reality, not fantasy, shall we?

First: The wide-angle view shown from inside the car only exists because the rear seats have no headrests.  Either it's a model of car old enough not to need them or the headrests were removed for the ad.  In any case, this is a 'grey lie'.

Second: They claim that manufacture has ceased immediately.  In fact, manufacture of a 'new and improved' model has been underway for a long time and they're eager to clear out their current inventory.  Hmmm, another 'grey lie'?

Third: "Current inventory" refers to just that, their current inventory.  The implication is that once these are sold there will be no more @ngelview mirrors, period!  With more inventories awaiting delivery this is a misrepresentation that truly equals a 'grey lie' if ever any statement did.

Fourth: In proclaiming a purchase limit of only 2 of these per customer they are hyping a sense of urgency that is unfounded.  It's kinda like the Covid hysteria, largely unfound but effective.  So, does this purchase limit equate to being yet another 'grey lie'?

HERE COMES AMAZON!  I went online to amazon.com and walmart.com and they sell these things without limit, and even in a handy 4-pack!  Well, whatta ya know!  If Amazon and Walmart can do this, how is it the 'factory direct' on television can't?

Only so many 'grey lies' can pile up before they become a black lie.  And lie these people do!  Be wise.  Whenever you see a great deal on TV, go to Amazon and Walmart and check it out.  You'll find you can do better pretty much every time and with Amazon and Walmart the delivery times are much shorter, often 80 to 90% shorter, and return policies are far, far, far better than anything you bought on TV and waited 2-6 weeks to get.

I'm Max, and that's the way I see it!
