THE MAX ALLEN REPORT
MAX & KEVIN IN THE MORNING
A true conversation on property
tax just wasn’t happening.
Property tax is nothing less than ‘rent’ paid in perpetuity by citizens to the government. The power of this tax is ultimate as it stands the ultimate threat to ‘The American Dream’. I was talking with Kevin about the possibility of substituting property tax with a ‘consumption tax’ that being a one-time sales tax on real estate.
Unfortunately, Kevin wasn’t in the mood to engage in deep discussion probably because airtime is fleeting, scarce, and expensive. I had asked about the need to eliminate property tax, but that took a back seat to the ‘theory’ of one-time taxation of real estate. Kevin focused on the viability of that consumption tax to replace the perpetual property tax scheme currently in effect.
Deep discussion is probably not possible on terrestrial talk radio, and that’s more than likely due to the fleeting nature and high value of airtime. Kevin does a pretty good job overall, but I would love to see him dig into a conversation and really impart substance from a two-way repartee.
I’m Max, and that’s the way I see it!
