COMBATTING CROWS

When the birds get nasty, the people get even.

Dateline Sunnyvale, California – Residents are fed up with crows in their community.  This ‘murder’ of crows has been covering city streets not only with themselves but with bird droppings as well.  From sidewalks to outdoor furniture to cars and even people, these ‘cat-sized’ birds drop huge wet and sticky droppings everywhere.

Because this is in the People’s Republic of California it’s illegal to kill or capture these black denizens of the sky.  For some insane reason they’re protected under ‘The Songbird Act’.  If you’ve ever heard a crow call out, you know that it’s about as far from being a songbird as Joe Biden is from being sane.

The city is preparing to start a pilot program to test green lasers to drive the crows away.  "It's far better than spending hundreds of dollars to spray wash the sidewalks every few weeks or spray wash Murphy Avenue because of that health risk," says the mayor of Sunnyvale.  While this would seem an excellent way to scare off the birds, members of the Audubon Society are worried the lasers might blind the crows or cause them pain.  Yep, only in California!

I’m Max, and that’s the way I see it!
