WHEN FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION DIES

When government censors children, they grow up to do the same

Where and when does a school's authority over students end?  A California school superintendent said she's been 'subjected to death threats on a daily basis' since launching an official investigation into a photo of students posing with swastikas painted on their chests.  Well, to the terminally woke, the children are guilty of the highest form of heinous behaviour.  I condemn anyone threatening harm to another, and I also condemn ‘bad taste behaviour.’

What I object to is the school’s censorship of the children’s’ innocent opinion and activity at a private party off school grounds and not connected to the school in any way.  Okay, so these kids made asses out of themselves when they painted swastikas on their chests and posed for pictures.  It’s stupid, but it’s harmless and it’s their business!

As the West has gone woke, censorship at all levels has become the norm.  Online, offline, spoken word, even personal notes have become the subjects of censorship.  More often than not this censorship has nothing to do with protecting anyone from anything.  What it is doing is something insidious and awful.  These children will grow up being censored and, by example, learn how to censor others.  Our world of free speech is already muzzled to a great extent; let’s not usher into the Orwellian nightmare of ‘1984’.

Fight for freedom of speech in every case except where there is a direct, obvious, and immediate threat to life and limb.  Speak your peace, I do.

I’m Max, and that’s the way I see it!
