TV AD PORN IN THIN DISGUISE

Pornography has slipped into TV advertising, under the radar

It’s impossible to tune in broadcast and even cable television anymore without being inundated by pornography in much of today’s advertising media.  Ads about Erectile Dysfunction, Urinary Incontinence, Testosterone Depletion, Telephone Sex, and the list goes on and on.

Not too many years ago these commercials would never have been aired or even considered for air by advertising agencies, clients, and the Federal Communications Commission.  Not too many years ago our country had a shared morality, and a sense of common decency.

When one harks back to the Christian origins of our country and our society, it’s disturbing to see how far we, as a society, have fallen.  A contrast between our morality in the 1960’s and our lack of morality in the 2020’s shows stark contrast and disturbing element.

I watched television the other night.  It was during this 2-hour movie that I had the disturbing experience of the typical 40+ minutes of ads.  It wasn’t just the disturbing fact that over a third of the movie had been cut out to accommodate the ads [hey, they gotta make a living] but it was the content of these ads.

I watched an ad for Peyronie's Disease, a condition which can adversely affect the shape of a man’s sex organ.  The ad compares this organ to a carrot, and literally floods the screen with bent carrots.  Not only is this distasteful, but it’s completely unnecessary.  We don’t need to see this on television.  If a man’s organ is bent to an angle he finds disturbing, he can consult his physician and doesn’t need to see it on the same television his kids or even grandkids are watching.  What the hell is wrong with us?

I saw another ad for ‘The Little Blue Pill’ used to address erectile dysfunction.  This ad is filled with images of whores flaunting their bodies in erotic poses as the background announcer speaks in suggestive tones.  The entire air as presented is unmistakable and shows, even endorses, that sex without marriage [shacking up] is okay.  These messages are not lost on the young who watch more television today than in our history.

When I thought I’d had enough, along comes an ad for one of the many AIDS medications available today.  It shows two males kissing, it shows men suggestive embraces.  It shows women with women in unacceptable kissing and hugging.  The ad makes it clear that, in the opinion of the advertisers, homosexual sex is acceptable.  These, again, are ads whose messages are not lost on the young and impressionable.

I could go on forever, but I’ve made my point.  From the scripts in television shows, the socialist ‘anything goes’ implications of network news, and the ever-present ‘everything goes’ messaging of television advertisers we’re in trouble.

Our nation was founded on the principles of Christianity.  We were built as a nation with a strong Christian ethic.  We became great under the recognized authority and example of Jesus Christ.  But look at us now!

I’m Max, and that’s the way I see it!
