THE WORST INVESTMENT?

The education industry has Americans brainwashed regarding a college education

Over the decades the education industry has implanted the thought that people without a college degree are losers.  They move further in convincing so many parents that, if they don’t send their kids to college, they are losers.  Worse yet, today university propaganda goes so far as to shame parents who do not or cannot send their kids to college.

What good is a college education?  Sure, if you want to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer, financial analyst, teacher etc., then a college degree is critical to your survival in your chosen field.  But these are a minority of professions.

The fact is that, according to the Education Analysis Foundation, “ … the need of a college degree exists in fewer than 20% of professions and careers in the United States.”  That says a lot!  With this information we can deduce that there are a lot of folks going to college who will snag a liberal arts degree.  Those graduates, often heavily in debt, are going to become baristas, short order cooks, and waiter / waitresses.

Let’s look at aircraft service technicians, the guys who keep airliners and other aircraft operating and safe.  How about your automotive service technician [formerly known as mechanics] who services that ‘computer on wheels’ you call the family car.  From computer programmers to retail managers and even to welders, etc. a college degree can actually be a hindrance.

Why would anyone spend 50 ~ 120 thousand dollars, go into debt for years, and struggle with this burden when servicing aircraft engines or airframes pays much more than their field of study?  Barely 15% of American kids ‘need’ college.  Let’s get off the mythos surrounding a college education and get real.

I’m Max, and that’s the way I see it!
