GONE TO THE DOGS!
America truly has gone to the dogs! Seriously!
There is no nation that can beat the United States of America when it comes to outright worship of their dogs. Yes, we have dogs here and there, we have dogs everywhere! If you don’t believe me turn on the television for an evening of viewing and just try to avoid ads with dogs in them. You’ll see pet suppliers, ASPCA, and various other advertisers cozying up to the hundreds of millions of American pet owners.
That’s understandable as these companies make their living in supplying the wants and needs of pet owners, predominantly dog owners. That’s commerce, capitalism, and the American way! I love to see this!
What I can’t understand is how advertisers both national and local seem hell-bent on shoe-horning dogs into ads that have absolutely nothing to do with dogs of any kind! From carpet sellers to pizza restaurants, bathroom and window installers, and remodelling companies, dogs abound in their ads. I wonder if this is yet another way of pandering to ‘the pet set’ or if it’s simply a ‘social requirement’ to acknowledge ‘pet-parents’ [God I hate that term] from sea to shining sea.
Let’s talk turkey: Contributions to the various animal ‘rescue’ organizations for fiscal year 2019-2020 eclipsed donations made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children … combined! [2019-2020 audit by American Society for Truth in Fiscal Charitable Contributions].
Take a minute to let that soak in. When the people of this country are so deluded as to donate to animal rights causes [WWF, Humane Society, ASPCA etc.] in lieu of helping the indigent, children, and the elderly … their priorities are really screwed up! It shows where their hearts really lie, and it’s not with humanity to be sure. Now, I don’t deprive them of their rights to contribute to whatever cause they wish, but am simply making an observation of their absolutely upside-down morality and thoroughly twisted priorities.
I’ve heard ‘pet-parents’ [I still hate that term] complain of spending thousands of dollars on their children’s braces while boasting of spending far more on medical treatments or accessories for their pets, primarily dogs. Now, that’s Cynophilia at its worst! Well, almost, I guess there’s the skyrocketing incidence of bestiality to contend with.

From ‘doggy hats, coats, and shoes’ to ‘riding in the grocery cart’ [which is, by the way, a crime in all 50 states for obvious health reasons] to ‘fake-service animals’ [also a crime in all 50 states] all the way to ‘bestiality’ [a crime in 46 states] and all points in between, this country needs a sound mental evaluation. Let me end this rant with the fact that I love dogs, rabbits, and especially guinea pigs … they’re so cute. Its mostly pet-owners who tick me off!
