THE TOWNE SQUARE MALL SHOOTING
AN EDITORIAL OPINION
Over the decades we’ve seen a steady decline in societal values. We’ve born witness to the breakdown of civility, manners, and respect for one another. Accompanying this is a decline in respect of human life. Whether a criminal shooter is mentally ill or not isn’t really relevant as society itself has become mentally ill.
Today we see a society that openly endorses the murder of the unborn in the form of pay-to-kill abortion. We see young people engrossed in video games that praise extreme violence. Whether video game violence or abortion have contributed to today’s malaise, I really don’t know.
What I do know is that we must not overreact. Being Liberal Democrats, I fully expect Boise City Government to enact panic-based gun control laws, further disarming the people of Boise and putting them at even greater risk. Overreaction only serves to support the mindset of shooters such as the Boise Towne Square Mall shooter.
The only real diagnosis is that we, as a people, have become evil. Evil knows no restraint, and all we can possibly do is to pray, protect, pursue goodness in our lives.
