THE WORST TRAFFIC IN AMERICA … FOR REAL!
Recently I heard a local talk show host lament that Boise, Idaho has the worst traffic congestion of any city in the United States. I listened, not paying too much attention to this seemingly impossible statistic. Just the other day I saw this same idiotic pseudo-fact repeated in the Idaho Statesman, a rag with so little circulation they don’t even have their own presses, and their entire staff numbers less than the starting line-up on a football team. I just had to get to the bottom of this, so I did.
According to US News and World Report, significantly more credible than the local Idaho paper, Boise doesn’t even list in the top 10, yet alone as the most congested city with the worst traffic. In a report compiled in October of 2020, these are the most congested cities with the worst traffic congestion numbering from least worst of the top ten to the worst. See if you can find Boise in among them:

#9 Baltimore, Maryland
#8 Portland, Oregon
#7 San Francisco, California
#6 Los Angeles, California
#5 Washington, D.C.
#4 New York City, New York
#3 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
#2 Chicago, Illinois
A Drum Roll Please: #1 in the country is Boston, Massachusetts.
So there you have it boys and girls. These are the undisputed champions at traffic congestion, commutes, and incredibly mind-numbing traffic conditions.
