Dateline, Queens, NY – Betty Diamond, 74, of Madison, Wisconsin returned a book she had checked out from the public library in Queens, NY in 1957. After a few years of seeing it among her own books, she pondered how to give it back.
Betty Diamond is a professor of English Literature at Wisconsin-Whitewater, and made the right decision. She returned the book by mail with a donation check of $500. The book was “Ol’ Paul, the Mighty Logger.” A collection of Paul Bunyan stories by Glen Rounds.
Yep, there are still honest folks in the world. Keep your eyes on the prize and hold your chin up. There’s hope America, as long as we have people like Betty Diamond.
