WATER, WATER, EVERYWHERE, AND IT'S FREE

For years a Saudi firm has pumped Arizona groundwater for free

Arizona's Butler Valley is noted for holding over 6 million acre-feet of groundwater, located strategically near the Central Arizona Project canal.  Now, it's interesting to note here that virtually all of the Butler Valley is owned by the State of Arizona.  It is held in trust to support public schools no less.

A Saudi Arabian corporation named Fodomonte has been pumping that water out by the billions of gallons to grow alfalfa hay meant for export to their homeland of Saudi Arabia.  That in and of itself isn't so bad, but what really sucks here is that their water is free.  This raises the question, "How much water has Fodomonte been pumping?"

In June of this year, The Arizona Republic uncovered the story of how the State Land Department had recently handed over thousands of acres of farmland to a Saudi corporation called Fodomonte, giving it permission to pump unlimited amounts of groundwater at no cost to grow alfalfa hay for export to Saudi Arabia.

While local residents pay through the nose for the precious water and even suffer occasional water shortages resulting in rationing, the Saudis are replete with all the water they can have ... and it's free!  Wow!  We're giving free water to a nation openly hostile toward us, especially in recent light of them seeing just how weak American leadership has become!

Similar situations across the nation link not only Saudi Arabia, but China, Russia, Iran, and even North Korea to similar water 'agreements'.  Who's the winner here?

Have you looked at your water bill lately?  I have.

I'm Max, and that's the way I see it!
